I am the granddaughter of Isabella Aithison Wood. Her father was James Aitchison of Primrose Hill which is near Coldstream, Scotland. Whether we have a family connection, I don’t know but would be interested to find out as I have little information on my grandmother’s family. I was able to visit Primrose Hill two years ago but the family has long been gone from there and I have no idea where the descendants are. I would be interested to hear from you.

It is amazing how the names of our ancestors intertwine. I see that your Aitchisons’ are about 60 miles from Eckford where our James Aitchison marries a Jane Wood. Jane’s sister Isabell Wood is born 10 Aug 1800 in Eckford Parish source: FHL Film #1067934 bap 31 Aug 1800. But that is all the information I have for Isabell. Her parents James Wood and Agnes Gray had 7 living children. I hope this is of some help. Sorry for the delay in responding to you. Do you live in Scotland?

I didn’t pick up your message until now so I apologize for taking so long to reply. I live in Shoal Lake, Manitoba but have been fortunate enough to make two trips to Scotland in the last few years. I spent an afternoon at Primrose Hill and was able to take many pictures. the people who live there now are very friendly and left us alone there as they had to be away.
A distant Wood cousin did intensive research on the Wood family and had gone back as far as the 1600s but he passed away just prior to our last trip so I don’t know what became of his work. I hope to go again in the near future so will try to track it down then. I suspect his son has it but since I haven’t had a chance to meet that branch of the family. It is interesting how families do intertwine. I have just discovered that a friend of mine is probably a distant cousin so I want to look into that and see.
